PLAN 3310 - Divided America: Racism, Planning, and Policy in the City, 1945-1965 Effective Start Date: 08/01/2021 As the nation grapples with disparate impact of health, education, safety and mobility for people of color, historical context is critical. This interdisciplinary course focuses on the two decades after World War Two that cemented the racial wedge in the nation. Using planning history and the legal decisions, the course begins with the Armistice and concludes with the signing of the Civil Rights Bill of 1965 that outlawed voting discrimination.
