LAW 7132 - Slavery and the Constitution Effective Start Date: 08/01/2015 This course will address how the Constitution dealt with the institution of slavery in America. We will focus on the framing and ratifying of the Constitution’s provisions relating to slavery, including the compromises they embodied; we will look at how lawyers argued over the Constitution’s application to various aspects of slavery, and we will consider how courts responded to those arguments.
