SOC 255 - Law and Society A study of the relationship between numerous social institutions and law, particularly the relationship between culture and the exercise of power by the legal system. The impacts of socio-economic status, capitalism, urbanization, individualism and mobility are also examined. Of special concern are contemporary issues such as abortion, divorce, euthanasia, religious freedom, unequal treatment under the law, and the informal workings of the civil and criminal law systems.
