EVSC 496 - Field Geology This four-week course introduces students to field techniques used by geologists. Topics include 1) map and aerial photo interpretation, 2) rock and mineral identification, 3) geologic mapping, and 4) field exercises in surface hydrology, hill-slope processes, and water chemistry. Broader themes addressed include landscape evolution of the Appalachians, and the interdependence of geology, soils, vegetation, and climate. (SS)
