Biology

General Information The Biology Department offers graduate education in a broad range of disciplines including biochemistry, botany, cell and molecular biology, developmental biology, ecology, evolution, genetics, and neuroscience. Admission is based on several criteria including scores on the Graduate Record Exam, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and prior research experience. The department is primarily located in Gilmer Hall which houses modern research and teaching facilities. In addition, research and teaching are conducted at Mountain Lake Biological Station near Blacksburg, Va.
