ARTH 2891 - Art and Architecture in Africa

Effective Start Date: 01/01/2022
Examination of key traditions, artists, and theories of art and architecture in Africa from archaeology to the modern time. Topics will include: rock art, archaeology of west African empires, art of African kingdoms, Sudanese adobe architecture, masquerade and performance, art of the reliquary, history of collecting, issues of repatriation.
