PHIL 3630 - Philosophy of Language Examines central conceptual problems raised by linguistic activity. Among topics considered are the relation between thought and language; the possibility of an essentially private discursive realm; the view that one’s linguistic framework somehow ‘structures’ reality; and the method of solving or dissolving philosophical problems by scrutiny of the language in which they are couched.
