Aerospace Science and Leadership - Minor

The Aerospace Science and Leadership minor is open to both ROTC and non-ROTC students. The minor expands access to military informed leadership development while leveraging existing AIRS courses and the strong regional presence of AFROTC Detachment 890.

The minor consists of an Air Force/Space Force-specific curriculum with required completion of 16 credits and a prescribed course sequence. The courses in the minor encompass the following:

Foundational coursework in leadership and ethics
Progressive instruction in organizational leadership and decision-making
Applied laboratory or experiential learning
A requirement in U.S. military history or national security

Curriculum Requirements

Required AIRS Courses (13 credits)

All students will complete the following 7 courses:

AIRS 1100 - Air Force Heritage and Values I Credits: 1
AIRS 1200 - Foundations of USAF II Credits: 1
AIRS 2100 - Team and Leadership Fundamentals I Credits: 1
AIRS 3100 - Leading People and Effective Communication I Credits: 3
AIRS 3200 - Concepts of Air Force Leadership and Management Credits: 3
AIRS 4100 - National Security Affairs/Preparation for Active Duty Credits: 3

Restricted Elective (3 credits)

All students will select and complete one of the following courses:

AIRS 4200 - National Security Affairs/Preparation for Active Duty Credits: 3
HIUS 2051 - War and the Making of America to 1900 Credits: 3
HIUS 2052 - America and War Since 1900 Credits: 3
HIUS 3172 - America in Vietnam Credits: 3
HIST 3352 - The First World War Credits: 3
HIST 3452 - The Second World War Credits: 3

Optional Leadership Laboratory (0 credits)

Students have the option of completing a non-credit leadership laboratory:
