Degree Requirements

Master of Arts

Of the 30 credits required for the degree, students are expected to complete a minimum of 24 credits of graded coursework, including HIST 7001 (Approaches to Historical Study) and HIST 8001 (Master’s Essay Writing).

Students in some areas of specialization are required to demonstrate foreign language mastery or proficiency.

Students are expected to complete a final exercise consisting of an oral defense of a significant piece of written work.

Students are expected to complete all requirements listed above prior to the conclusion of the third semester of study.
