Degree Requirements

Master of Arts

Students are expected to complete a minimum of 30 credits of graded coursework, including a minimum of nine credits on pre-1800 topics and a minimum of nine credits on post-1750 topics.

Students are expected to complete an oral examination during their final semester. All parts of the examination must be passed; any failed part of the comprehensive examination may be retaken only once, normally within four months.

Students are expected to complete the degree in a maximum of four semesters.
