Master of Arts
Of the 30 credits required for the degree, students are expected to complete a minimum of 24 credits of graded coursework, including a minimum of eighteen credits of coursework in Greek and Latin taken in the Department. Students are expected to pass a translation exam in Greek or Latin; a written exam in Greek or Roman history (or audit equivalent courses approved by the Director of Graduate Studies while achieving a minimum average grade of B on the midterm and final); complete a qualifying paper by the start of their fifth semester of study and a translation exam in German, French, or Italian.
