The Accounting concentration offers a sound general business foundation and the analytical and conceptual skills essential for understanding accounting practices. Accounting concentrators learn to analyze and provide quantitative information that is used to drive decision making and creative problem solving in the business world. The program’s highly sought-after graduates enter careers such as business consultants, financial managers, independent auditors, and tax advisers.
Educational requirements to take the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination (CPA Exam) vary by state. Students planning to sit for the CPA Exam should determine the requirements for admission to the examination by contacting their State Board of Accountancy.

Academic Requirements
Students concentrating in accounting are required to complete COMM 3110 and COMM 3120 and six additional credits from the list below. Additional accounting courses beyond these minimums are required for students seeking professional certification (e.g. certified public accountant, certified management accountant or certified internal auditors).
