Common First Year in the School of Architecture

Common First Year Curriculum

The School of Architecture Undergraduate Curriculum begins with a common first year designed to introduce students to the three primary undergraduate disciplines in the School of Architecture, as well as to provide the diverse disciplinary exposure that undergirds any liberal arts education. In addition to coursework in the School of Architecture, students are strongly encouraged to explore coursework elsewhere across the University through General Education requirements.

During the Spring semester of the first year, students choose an intended major:

Bachelor of X Architectural History - Old can delete , Bachelor of Science X - Architecture - Old can delete , and Bachelor of X Urban and Environmental Planning - Old can delete .

NOTES

  1. Students whose last names end in A-K must take ENWR 1510 in the fall; those with last names ending in L-Z take it in the spring. All students are required to take ENWR 1510 regardless of AP or SAT score.
  2. The terms “Humanities Elective”, “Math/Natural Science Elective”, and “Social/Behavioral Science Elective” mean electives defined according to the corresponding area requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences. The term “General Education Elective” means an elective from any of these three categories.
  3. A student must receive a grade of at least a C- in required courses or must retake the course.
