The Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), established on Grounds in 1948, offers a general Military Science and Leadership curriculum that provides eligible students the opportunity to become commissioned officers in the United States Army while completing undergraduate or graduate studies. Students that do not desire to become commissioned officers may also take some of our course offerings (see below for details).

Qualified students that desire to pursue a commission as an officer in the US Army enroll in a Military Science class and a Leadership laboratory each semester.
These courses are MISC 1010/1015 and 1020/1025 for First years, MISC 2010/2015 and 2020/2025 for Second years, MISC 3010/3015 and 3020/3025 for Third years, and MISC 4010/4015 and 4020/4025 for Forth years. In addition to these courses, students attend a four-week leadership training camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky during the summer between their third and fourth years.Other students on grounds that do not desire to purse a commission as an officer in the Army may also take some of our course offerings. These Military Science and Leadership classes that include MISC 1010, 1020, 2010, and 2020. Students taking these courses are not “Cadets” and will not enroll in the “Applied Military Leadership” labs (the MISC xxx5 labs). There is no military service obligation for non-scholarship students enrolled/participating in these courses. The following Military Science courses are not available for these students: MISC 3010, 3020, 4010, 4020.
Second-year, transfer, and graduate students who were unable to take ROTC during the first two years of college may be eligible for an acceleration program. These students complete a four-week summer internship at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During attendance, they are provided transportation, food, lodging, and cadet pay. They may also compete for two-year scholarships. Two year scholarships are also available for enlisted members of the National Guard or Army Reserve that have successfully completed Basic Combat training.
Merit-based Scholarship Programs provide financial assistance to qualified students through two-, three-, and four-year scholarships. All Scholarships include the students’ choice of Tuition and Fees or up to $10,000 in Room and Board, $600 each semester for books and equipment, and a monthly stipend during the school year. Stipends vary by academic year and are awarded based on the following schedule: first year, $300; second year, $350; third year, $450; and fourth year, $500. Students may apply during their junior or senior years of high school for the 3 and 4 year National Scholarships at www.goarmy.com/rotc/scholarships. Campus-Based Scholarships are also available for first or second year students and are offered through the Military Science Department. Scholarship recipients and contracted cadets incur a military service obligation.
