Master of Arts


Of the 30 credits required for the degree, students are expected to complete a minimum of 24 credits of graded coursework, including 18 credit hours in courses related to East Asia and a minimum of six credits each of coursework offered by at least two different departments.

Students are expected to demonstrate third-year competence in Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Tibetan language.

Students are expected to write and defend a thesis.
