The Certificate in Project Management provides a core framework and information on how to apply a wide range of tools in order to be an effective project manager. The 18-credit graduate PM certificate (6 courses) focuses on the core competencies recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The PM certificate can be completed in 12 months by enrolling in 2 classes per term.
The PM certificate is ideal for individuals who are required to manage projects but possess a limited understanding of project management as a discipline. Courses are designed to familiarize students with the many facets of project management to enable them to transfer the knowledge acquired to project management positions in private industry, the not-for-profit sector, as well as in local, state, and federal agencies. Completion of the PM certificate demonstrates evidence of specialized educational achievement in project management. For more information visit the program online at www.scps.virginia.edu.
NCBM 407 - Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Review Preparation for PMP Exam is offered as a non-credit elective and not required for the Project Management Certificate, but is recommended for students planning to take the PMP certification examination.
