Students who meet requirements set by the Virginia Department of Education and the Curry School of Education may be admitted to certificate programs in Reading Education or Special Education.  To be eligible for initial licensure, enrollees must complete all requirements outlined on program-area websites.  The department also offers a fifteen-credit certificate study option in Adolescent Literacy. This certificate may be earned in concert with master’s degree work in reading or added on after completion of the MEd degree.

The certificate in Administration and Supervision is a state-approved program for individuals seeking endorsement in preK-12 school administration and supervision. The program is intended for individuals who have earned a master’s degree and are seeking state endorsement and a position as principal, assistant principal or central office supervisor. It requires 30 credits of coursework and an internship. See the Curry website for additional information.
