Admission Requirements
Admission application form including 1-page essay, CV, and transcript. Must have completed one of the Certificate courses with a grade of B- or higher before applying. Applications will be read by at least two members of the Certificate Committee. Meeting with a Certificate Advisor (a member of the Certificate Committee) to work out schedule. Required Courses (all in-person)
ANTH/LING 3400 - Structure of English (3 credits) - LING 5090 - Teaching English as a Second Language Credits: 3
- LNGS 5000 - Linguistic Principles in Language Pedagogy Credits: 3
One additional required course of the student’s choosing (minimum of 3 credits, also all in-person) including: - AMST 2500 Language in the US
- ANTH 2400 Language and Culture
- ANTH 2410 Sociolinguistics
- LNGS 2220 History and Structure of Black English
- LNGS 2240 Southern American English
Students must complete all courses counted toward the Certificate with a grade of B- or higher in order to be awarded a Certificate.
