The Workforce Development Certificate is a 9-credit professional graduate certificate designed for those individuals working as: college administrators with responsibility for workforce/economic development activities; educators and trainers in universities and colleges; secondary school educators and career counselors; human resources professionals; workforce, community and economic development practitioners; private sector trainers; proprietary school personnel; and those interested in pursuing careers in workforce development. The Workforce Development Certificate prepares workforce development professionals by: exploring the competencies needed by a successful workforce development professional and providing opportunities to hone these abilities; assessing strengths and weaknesses and developing an action plan for skill enhancement where necessary; providing a framework for the application of competencies in current work settings and job responsibilities. The courses are presented via classroom setting, web-based instruction, self-directed learning methods and practicum experience in the workplace. A bachelor’s degree is required. Contact the academic program director for specific information regarding admission, transfer credit, and certificate completion requirements.
