The Dance Program at UVa is interested in creating an overall ‘intelligent dancer’. Students are required to take four credits of Technique including the Modern, Jazz and Ballet requirements. Technique courses can be repeated for credit up to 3 times. Students cannot exceed 8 total credits of technique. Students will be required to take one introduction to dance course (3 credits), two courses (4 credits) in Composition, 4 credits of dance electives, one Dance History course (3 credits) and one Dance Production course (3 credits). These courses allow students to delve into specific areas of interest within dance. In addition to the coursework, dance minors will be required to participate in 1-2 dance performances within the department.
|
Pre-requisites:
Before declaring the dance minor, students must be enrolled in at least one technique course.
There is a general progression of study within the program and students should refer to each course description for specific pre-requisites for individual courses.
Any questions regarding these can be directed to the Dance Minor Advisor.
