PLCP 4660 - States and Markets: History and Theory Effective Start Date: 04/12/2011 Analysis of the historical and conceptual foundations of theories of the relation of states and markets. Questions the historical accounts and liberal assumptions of western development that shape social science, with the aim of providing a more analytical understanding of contemporary theories. Readings range from a close reading of Adam Smith to a historical study of European economic development to approaches to the developing world.
