PLAN 6310 - Divided America: Racism, Planning, and Policy in the City, 1945-1965 Effective Start Date: 04/07/2021 As the nation grapples with disparate impact of health, education, safety and mobility for people of color, historical context is critical. This interdisciplinary course focuses on the decades after World War 2 that cemented the racial wedge in the US. Using planning history and the legal decisions, the course begins with the Armistice and concludes with the Voting Rights Bill of 1965. Graduate students will have additional research requirements.
