ARCH 5470 - Information Space Effective Start Date: 03/01/2009 We live in a world rich with information. This course concentrates on the identity and role of information in our environs: in the buildings and cities that we inhabit and in the evolving networks and World Wide Web that are increasingly a part of our daily lives. The course looks practically and theoretically at how we build information, why, and how we use and populate it in our world. In both the physical and digital realms we study language, graphics, and urban form as `Information Space`, and look for ways to build new architectures that use information well. The course uses web design technology as a vehicle to explore these themes.
