SOC 5086 - Media Sociology Effective Start Date: 08/01/2013 In a reading and discussion-intensive seminar experience, students will examine key schools of theory, research, and criticism, both in sociology and in related social sciences and humanities traditions that have helped shape the development of the interdisciplinary field of Media Sociology. Units will include: semiotics of texts; audience studies; media organizations; media globalization; new media and social transformation.
