MESA 3345 - Islam, Science, and the Environment

Part one surveys the origins, development, and history of science in the Islamic world, focusing on the scientific developments that emerged from intercultural encounters with the Greek, Sanskrit, and European traditions. Part two critically examines the ambit of Islamic rational and scientific thinking: the conception and treatment of the natural environment, and utilizing river pollution, and specifically India’s Yamuna River, as a case study.

Requisites: Students can’t enroll if previously taken MESA 3559 topic 10 Islam, Science & Environment
