BIOC 8142 - Bioinformatics and Protein Structure The course provides an introduction to strategies for analyzing protein and DNA sequences at the genomic and metagenomic level. The course will focus on practical aspects of genome sequence analysis. Beginning with an introduction to Unix and Perl programming, the course will cover alignment algorithms and statistics, protein function prediction, and preliminary analysis of Next Generation sequence data.
