ARTH 2772 - American Film Noir and the City Studies the classic period of film noir and its engagement with the city as a problematic subject and a frequent resource within American Art and culture immediately before and after WW II. Using the classic period of film noir as a framework, this lecture and discussion course examines the ways in which ‘the city’ is represented as a problematic subject and a frequent resource within American Art and culture immediately before and after WWII.
