GSGS 3116 - Social Movements and Development This course examines debates about social movements and development, from workers responding to changes in their sphere of work, to communities responding to the seizure of land, water or other resources. Issues will include displacement, migration, trafficking, labor rights, environmental damage; gender, class and caste aspects of movements; human rights of marginalized groups; the role of the state and non-state organizations.
