LAW 7744 - Slavery and the Constitution (SC) This course will address how the Constitution dealt with the institution of slavery in America. We will focus on the framing and ratifying of the Constitution’s provisions relating to slavery, including the compromises they embodied; we will look at how lawyers argued over the Constitution’s application to various aspects of slavery, and we will consider how courts responded to those arguments.
