PLCP 4350 - Gender and the Public Sphere

What are the different roles of women and men in public life, how have they changed over time, and how does this shape emancipatory political struggles? We investigate these questions through political theory and a wide-array of case studies, including the French Revolution, colonial Africa and Indonesia, modern China, and the contemporary US.
