BIOL 861 - Ecology of Wildlife Diseases This course provides an introduction to the ecology and evolution of parasites in wild animal populations. Topics addressed include understanding pathogen transmission and epidemiology at the population level, regulation of animal populations, host defenses and pathogen virulence, emerging diseases, and the role of parasites in wildlife conservation. Students also learn field and laboratory techniques for evaluating wildlife health, and examine parasites infecting insects, birds, amphibians, small mammals, and other wildlife near MLBS. (SS)
