CE 6340 - Risk and Reliability in Structural Engineering Studies the fundamental concepts of structural reliability; definitions of performance and safety, uncertainty in loadings, materials and modeling. Analysis of loadings and resistance. Evaluation of existing design codes. Development of member design criteria, including stability, fatigue and fracture criteria; and the reliability of structural systems. Prerequisite: Background in probability and statistics.
