CE 421 - Pavement Analysis and Design Introduces the concepts of design, performance, and analysis of rigid and flexible pavements. Focuses on five specific areas: review of engineering materials used for pavement construction, empirical and mechanistic design methodologies for pavement construction and rehabilitation, influence of traffic loading on pavement performance, life-cycle cost analysis techniques, and pavement management. Students gain experience with classic pavement analysis techniques as well as state-of-the-art mechanistic modeling. Course serves as the primary undergraduate pavements course as well as a stepping-stone for advanced study in pavements. (Y)
