COMM 423 - Financial Systems Engineering This course provides students with an introduction to business systems with a particular emphasis on applications in Finance and Accounting. It introduces students to the systems development process and the challenges involved in building high-quality systems efficiently and reliably while providing hands-on skills in state-of-the-art technologies (e.g., C# and Visual Studio .Net). In-class activities will focus on systems development concepts and problem solving. Homework includes hands-on exercises using the Moneyline Telerate Center for Financial Markets. Students work in teams collaboratively with finance students to develop a complex application to support decision-making that is tested in a Tournament at the end of the semester (the annual McIntire Hedging Tournament). Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisite: Third or Fourth year Commerce standing or instructor permission.
