L AR 514 - Theories of Modern Landscape Examines modern built landscapes as cultural products with their own materials, codes, and concerns. Underscores landscape architecture theory’s interlocking relationship with changing societal constructions of nature, environmentalism, and the city. Focuses on exemplary built works of landscape architecture and their impact on, and debt to, specific design treatises or manifestos in light of broader cultural and theoretical practices. (Y)
