Human Resources Management

Return to: School of Continuing and Professional Studies: Departments/Programs

The streamlining of many routine functions in human resources has created a growing need for highly trained professional managers with the skills to plan for, hire, train, manage, retain, and develop tomorrow’s workforce. Professionals in human resources management participate in strategic planning, address legal and ethical issues, manage complex finances, serve as in-house consultants on organizational behavior, and act as change managers.

The Certificate in Human Resources Management addresses the functional areas of human resources. The 18-credit undergraduate/post-baccalaureate Certificate in Human Resources Management (6 courses) can be completed in 12 months by enrolling in 2 classes per term. Each course carries three semester hours of undergraduate course credit. Students may enroll in individual courses without applying for the certificate.

The Certificate in Human Resources Management is appropriate for those just entering the field of human resources management. Completion of the Certificate in Human Resources Management demonstrates evidence of specialized educational achievement in human resources management.

All required and elective courses are offered online. For more information please visit the program online at http://www.scps.virginia.edu/certificates
