Qualified cadets enroll in one military science class and leadership laboratory each semester. Cadets attend a four-week leadership training camp during the summer between their first and second year, and one between their third and fourth years. With the instructor’s permission, students not enrolled in Army ROTC may take the Basic Course military science and leadership classes that include MISC 1010, 1020, 2010, and 2020 as electives. These participating students are not cadets and are not required to enroll in the “Applied Military Leadership” classes (the MISC xxx5 Labs). There is no military service obligation for non-scholarship students enrolled/participating in the Basic Course classes. The Advanced Course classes, consisting of MISC 3010, 3020, 4010, 4020, are available only to contracted cadets and does incur a military service obligation.

Second-year, transfer, and graduate students who were unable to take ROTC during the first two years of college may be eligible for an acceleration program. These students complete a four-week summer internship at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During attendance, they are provided transportation, food, lodging, and cadet pay. They may also compete for two-year scholarships. Two year scholarships are also available for enlisted members of the National Guard or Army Reserve that have successfully completed Basic Combat training in lieu of the four-week summer training internship at Fort Knox.

Merit-based Scholarship Programs provide financial assistance to qualified students through two-, three-, and four-year scholarships. All Scholarships include the students’ choice of Tuition and Fees or up to $10,000 in Room and Board, $600 each semester for books and equipment, and a monthly stipend during the school year. Stipends vary by academic year and are awarded based on the following schedule: first year, $300; second year, $350; third year, $450; and fourth year, $500. Students may apply during their junior or senior years of high school for the 3 and 4 year National Scholarships at www.goarmy.com/rotc/scholarships. Campus based scholarships are also available for first or second year students and are offered through the Military Science Department. Scholarship recipients and contracted cadets incur a military service obligation.

Non-scholarship Program

Non-scholarship cadets enroll in the same courses as scholarship cadets. During their third and fourth years, they receive the same monthly stipend and book stipend as third and fourth year scholarship students. Non-scholarship cadets incur no military obligation until the last two years of a four-year academic program at the University.

Professional Military Education

In addition to the courses listed below, enrolled cadets must complete one 3 credit hour course in United States Military history. This requirement must be met prior to graduation.

Post Graduation Opportunities
