R.N. to B.S.N. Option

The baccalaureate program includes a uniquely tailored curriculum for students who are graduates of community colleges and hospital schools and are licensed registered nurses (R.N.). The program is a unique two year part-time program. Students enroll in 30 credits at the University of Virginia, 10 credit hours of which are at the graduate level. Classes are offered in a part-time format to allow students to maintain employment while completing their B.S.N. The program provides a foundation for professional practice and embraces the philosophy of life-long learning, encouraging further education such as graduate study for advanced practice or preparation as a clinical leader or teacher. The 120 hours of credit are earned as 49 general education requirements, 41 credit hours of advanced standing (awarded after RN to BSN coursework is completed), and the 30 credit hours of residency.
