  • Create efficient designs for collecting data that are relevant to such questions, use and analyzing data;
  • Use powerful and appropriate procedures for analyzing the data, and communicate the findings effectively.
  • The Educational Research, Statistics, and Evaluation Program consists of a sequence of courses in (quantitative and/or qualitative methods ranging from elementary statistical concepts to advanced multivariate techniques, qualitative research design and methods,) for collecting and evaluation. In addition, advanced seminars allow intense exploration of other topics. Students may choose to specialize in one of three areas: quantitative research methods, qualitative research methods, or program evaluation. Students are also involved in ongoing research projects directed by program faculty.analyzing data;
  • Bring existing knowledge to bear on such questions and effectively communicate the findings;
  • Contribute to the evolution of new and existing methods;
  • Competently apply and teach quantitative and/or qualitative methods in higher education.

 The Program includes coursework, a research apprenticeship in which students can focus their program of study to align with a quantitative, qualitative and/or program evaluation orientation through selection of appropriate mentors, and other experiences to: (1) analyze research methods in education literature, (2) conduct research in education with contemporary methods, (3) educate teachers of research methodology, and (4) serve as expert consultants in the design and implementation of educational research and/or evaluation.

Graduates at the master’s level are employed by school systems, state education departments, schools of education, nursing, medicine, etc., and other public and private organizations engaged in educational research or evaluation.
