ISSS 318 - Critical Issues in Democracy


This course will explore several critical issues in democracy, relating to both the United States and countries abroad.  Students will learn from five experts on various aspects of democracy and will be engaged in reading and writing in all areas, as well have the opportunity to work on a project drawing from all areas of this study.  The course will begin with an examination of ancient and modern theories of democracy and expand to topics such as political parties, the presidency, voting, foreign policy, development of international relations.  (IR)
