COMM 305 - Human Element in Organizations

Examines the interplay between key stakeholders in business and how firms balance financial performance objectives with broader societal objectives.  Students develop a better understanding of corporate communication strategies, leadership, and motivation.  Students investigate the relationships between strategic vision, organizational culture, and corporate image as an example of cross-functional thinking.  Students develop a critical awareness of larger ethical and societal aspects of business.  Class discussions highlight institutional and individual challenges affecting ethical behavior.  Students examine many of these topics in the context of nonprofit organizations.  Students will apply the strategic and tactical aspects of business to nonprofit organizations to develop an appreciation of the challenges of managing a nonprofit organization.
