ANTH 258 - Fertility and The Future: Anthropology of Reproduction This course examines cross-cultural conceptions of the role of human reproduction in producing desirable (or undesirable) future collectivities. Central questions will be, how do discourses about race, gender, class, and religion shape reproductive ideals and practices around the world? How do fragilities of reproduction, including infertility, pregnancy loss, and infant and child death bring the tenuousness of reproduction into sharp relief for men and women in a world of locally and globally ‘stratified’ reproductive futures?
