ISHU 3622 - Art as Protest: The Situationist International and the Contemporary World Examines art as protest in the contemporary world. Traces the history and influence of the Situationist International on contemporary art and culture as a culmination of other Avant-garde movements of the 20th century. Requires students to create artworks, or write proposals for artworks, in dialogue with Avant-garde movements such as DaDa, the Surrealists, CoBrA, Art Informal, and Abstract Expressionism to determine their impact on the present.
