PLAP 424A - Religion and Politics

Examines traditional religious cleavages in American politics and the role of religious groups in pivotal episodes in American history, including the temperance and civil rights movements. Includes an examination of the contemporary influence of religious beliefs on political behavior, with special emphasis on the apparent rise of the Christian right. (SS)
