MUSI 274 - Music as Performance in Cross-Cultural Perspectives This course examines the elements of performance, ranging from music aesthetics to performance anxiety, and most importantly, the act of listening, in order to explore the relationship between music, people, history, and culture. Aspects include the psychological and physiological concerns of musicians, audiences, as well as performance and cultural contexts. Students learn performance analysis skills including popular song video analysis and live performance analysis. Case studies range from popular to classical to music from various world cultures, and includes drama as well as musical performance. (SS)
