ANTH 234 - The Hereafter: Anthropology of Death This course addresses the history and present state of anthropological and archaeological approaches to understanding how different societies deal with death. Case studies from around the world illuminate the diversity in the meanings assigned, and responses to, the death of a member of these societies. Additional issues discussed with regard to their social manifestations in death are gender, class, ethnicity, and age. (IR)
