DRAM 5040 - Early American Theatre and Drama A study of nineteenth-century theatre and dramatic literature in relation to the central cultural developments of the century. An examination, through the reading of nineteenth-century comedies and melodramas as social documents, of the complex and ever-changing role the theatre played in nineteenth-century American life. Prerequisite: Graduate standing or instructor permission.
