Surveys Islamic religion and history. Covers such topics as the various Islamic empires; political developments; important religious doctrines and beliefs; the development of sectarianism and its impact on religious practice and beliefs; the importance of Islamic mysticism; the development of Islamic law; jihad; terrorism; and the place of women in Islamic tradition.
