ARTS 507 - Printmaking/Book Art

This summer course in studio art is meant to provide the student with a workshop experience that combines aspects of several courses that are normally offered separately during the regular year. Students combine traditional etching methods, polymer photogravure, and digital printmaking to produce hybrid works. A suite of these works are produced in the context of making an artist’s book. Traditional as well as innovative forms of bookbindery are also introduced. The course includes study in the Special Collections of Alderman Library, the Print Study Room in the University of Virginia Museum, as well as the printmaking studios in the Dell. (SS)
