PLAP 424 - Picking the President


This course studies the historical evolution of presidential selection, the rules governing presidential campaigns, the working and history of the primary system, the changing role of the media in the process and voting behavior in both primary and general elections.  Students will select and intensively study, using key concepts and analytic tools introduced in class, one election cycle from the previous dozen.  We will also examine the 2008 primaries and early stages of the general election campaign.
